Baptism FAQs

What should I wear?

The church will provide you with a t-shirt. You should also wear a pair of shorts or something that you feel comfortable in when it gets wet. It is best not to wear any light colored clothing or jeans.

What should I bring with me?

You should bring with you a change of clothes and any items you may need to get dressed after the baptism. There are towels and hair dryers provided for you in the changing rooms.

Where should I go when I get to church?

When you arrive at church, a baptism host will be there to greet you in the foyer. They will take you upstairs to the changing rooms to allow you to get ready. The host will stay with you while you wait and be there to help you after the baptism takes place.

Where is the baptistery located in the church?

The baptistery is located behind the choir loft below the cross.

When does the baptism take place?

The baptism will take place at the beginning of the church service.

Will the baptism take place in front of the church congregation?

Yes, but remember that most people in the church congregation have been baptized the same way. Everyone is excited to be there to celebrate with you.

Where can I keep my belongings during the baptism?

The host will bring you to a changing room upstairs located to the side of the baptistery. You may leave all of your belongings in this room during the baptism.

What happens during the baptism?

The pastor will instruct you when it is time to step into the baptistery. He will introduce you to the congregation and share a little bit of your faith story. He will then ask you, “Has there been a time you asked Jesus to forgive your sins and be in charge of your life?” You will then grab your nose and the pastor will place his hand on top of your hand.  Relax, bend your knees, and lean back into the water with the pastor’s assistance. You will exit the baptistery on the same side that you entered.

How long does the baptism take?

The baptism only lasts a couple of minutes.

Is the water warm in the baptistery?

Yes, the water is heated in the baptistery.

What happens after the baptism?

After you’ve been baptized, the host will be standing to the side of the baptistery with towels ready for you. You can go back to your changing room to get dried and changed. The host will then guide you back downstairs to join the congregation for service.

Where should my friends and family sit?

We would love to have all of your friends and family join us for your baptism. It is best to tell them to sit in the middle section of the sanctuary so that they are able to see you get baptized. Encourage them to take pictures and videos.

We are so excited to have you as part of our church family!
